Intramural Athletics are a great way to get involved at Mississippi College! The Office of Student Engagement offers a variety of Intramural sports throughout the academic year. Intramurals sports are open to all students, regardless of athletic ability. Many students choose to play with student organizations or friends, but students may also sign up as a free agent through IMLeagues.
Intramurals hosts the following season sports:

- 3-on-3 Basketball
- 5-on-5 Indoor Soccer
- Beach Volleyball
- Bubble Soccer
- Cornhole Tournament
- Court Volleyball
- Ultimate Frisbee
Competing in any intramural activity is completely voluntary; therefore, Mississippi College is not responsible for any injury that one may incur.
Article 1- Individual Participant Eligibility
Section 1: General Guidelines
All active undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and full-time staff members of Mississippi College are eligible to participate in any activity sponsored by the Intramural Sports Office.
- To be eligible for Intramural Sports, students must be registered for MC classes in the term in which they wish to participate AND have paid their activity and service fees that are assessed with tuition to Mississippi College. The following classifications of students are eligible for Intramural Sports; Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate, and MC Law Students.
- A participant who terminates his/her ties with the University immediately relinquishes his/her right to participate in the IM program.
- Participants must have a currently validated Mississippi College ID card in order to participate.
Section 2: Current Student-Athletes
- Student-Athletes who play a particular sport shall be eligible for all intramural sports except the sport or related sport for which they play. This rule remains in effect for the length of the year.
- This applies to all IM sports:
- Football: flag football
- Basketball: basketball, 3 v. 3
- Baseball/Softball: softball
- Volleyball: volleyball, beach volleyball
- Tennis: tennis
- Soccer: soccer, indoor soccer
Section 3: Former Student-Athletes
A student who has been a member of a varsity or junior varsity team at Mississippi College in a particular sport is not eligible for intramural competition in that or its related sport during the academic year. If you are on the team roster for the first game of regular season play, you are considered a member of that sports team. The only exception made will be for graduating seniors. Seniors graduating in May will be allowed to participate during their last year as an MC student.
Section 4: Ex-Student Athletes
If a student-athlete drops or is dropped from an intercollegiate team prior to the opening of the pre-season, they will be eligible for intramural participation in that sport.
Section 5: Professional Athletes
Anyone who is or has been a professional athlete in a particular sport is ineligible to participate in that or a related sport for two academic years following his or her professional career.
Section 6: Number of Teams, Participation
Male participants may play for only one men’s team (in any one sport). Therefore, a male participant may NOT participate in both the Man’s A and Men’s B league. Women participants may play for only one women’s team in any one sport. Females have the option to play for a men’s team. However, Females who choose to participate on a men’s team forfeit their right to play in a women’s league.
Section 7: Game Participation
A participant is considered to have officially played for a team once he/she has been signed-in on a team’s roster at the captain’s meeting, regardless of whether he/she actively plays in the game/ match.
Section 8: Change of Teams
A participant, having played for one team, may not change to another team during the season without the written permission of the Intramural Sports administrative staff. Appeals to change from one team to another shall be made in writing to the Intramural Sports staff for review.
Section 9: Eligibility Challenges
Any person or organization may challenge the eligibility of a player by notifying the Intramural Sports Office. Eligibility challenges must occur within 7 days of the date of the player’s participation in an intramural game or event. The Intramural Sports administrative staff will review challenges.
Section 10: Individual Appeals
If an individual feels that they have extenuating circumstances that should allow them to be exempt from any or all of the Intramural By-Laws, they can make a written appeal stating their reasons for exemption from the rules. The IM administrative staff will review this appeal.
Section 11: Individual Penalties
As soon as an individual violates any of the eligibility rules, they shall thereafter be considered ineligible for ALL intramural activities. Violation of the suspension will result in further or permanent suspension from the Intramural Program and possible disciplinary action by the office of the Dean of Students.
Section 12: Team Penalties
- A team that participates with 1 or more ineligible players (sections 1-11) in a single regular season game shall be placed on probation for the remainder of the regular season in addition to forfeiture of that game. If the team participates with an ineligible player in any other regular season game, that game will be forfeited and the team will become ineligible for the playoffs. Major or deliberate violations of eligibility may result in the team being dropped from the league following the first violation, at the discretion of the Intramural Sports administrative staff.
- A team that participates with an ejected player (section 14) in a regular season game shall forfeit the game and shall become ineligible for the playoffs.
- A team that participates with an ineligible player (all sections) during the playoffs or during any tournament play shall forfeit the game and will be immediately eliminated from the playoffs.
Section 13: Team Appeals
If a team feels that they or a member of their team has been ruled ineligible incorrectly, they can make a written appeal within 48 hours of the ruling stating their reasons for review or exemption from the rules. The Intramural Sports administrative staff will review the appeal.
Section 14: Ejection and Suspensions
- A player or fan may be ejected by game officials for any conduct deemed un-sports-man-like or for not staying within the spirit of rules.
- An ejected person is immediately ineligible for ALL intramural sports and activities both in the sport of the ejection and all other intramural sports. This “lifetime suspension” from all intramural activities (including attendance at any Intramural events) carries over from the academic year to academic year until the ejected person completes the following procedure to regain his/her eligibility.
- To regain eligibility, the ejected player must prepare a written statement detailing the events that took place, drop off 2 copies of the statement and set up and appointment with the Director or Assistant Director of Intramurals to discuss the matter. Even if it is the last contest for their team, the ejected person’s suspension will continue until the person meets with the Director/Assistant Director for reinstatement into the Intramural program.
- A team cannot advance into the playoffs with an outstanding ejected player. The ejected player must meet with the Director/Ass. Director to rectify the matter or the team captain should meet with the Director/Ass. Director to discuss dropping the player from their official team roster.
- Anyone who physically assaults a spectator, player, official or activity supervisor will be automatically suspended for a minimum period of one year from the date of the incident. The person must petition the Intramural Sports administrative staff for re-admittance into the program. Further, appropriate charges may be filed with the University Chief Judicial Officer.
Article II- Forfeits and Defaults
Section 1: Forfeits
- If a team or contestant fails to appear at the appointed place and time, the supervisor in charge shall declare the contest forfeited to the team or contestant ready to play. Five minutes after the start of scheduled game time is considered the time of forfeiture.
- If a team wins a game by forfeit, all names listed and verified as eligible by the officials will be considered to have played that game.
- Any team forfeiting because of failure to arrive at a scheduled regular season game will be withdrawn from play unless they notify the Intramural Office of their intention to continue to participate by noon Friday following the forfeited game. If the team forfeits a second time because of a failure to show, the team will be withdrawn from further play in that sport.
- Any team that forfeits 2 or more games will become ineligible to participate in the playoff tournament.
- Any team using an ineligible player as described in Article 1, Section 12, shall forfeit all games in which the ineligible player had played.
Section 2: Defaults
- Defaults mean that a team or individual can miss a game without penalty.
- When teams are aware that they will be unable to field the required number of players for a game or match, the team should notify the Intramural sports office no later than 12 Noon on the day of the contest.
- At game time, one less than the required number of participants to start a contest is also considered a default.
- Two defaults will constitute a forfeit. Captains should be aware that a default in a single-elimination playoff tournament is the same as a forfeit, and the team will be unable to continue in the tournament.
Section 3: Playoffs
- If two teams have the same record at the end of the season, then playoff ranking will be decided by head to head competition. If there is no head to head competition or in the case of three or more ties in one division, the rank will be decided based on the score differential across the course of the season. The teams with the most points will be ranked ahead of the others. A forfeited win will count as a mercy rule win, dictated by the sport being played.
Article III- Protest of the Rules and Interpretations
Section 1: Initiating a Protest
At activities in which an Intramural Supervisor or Assistant is present, protests concerning misinterpretation of playing rules will be resolved when they arise. Protests of an official’s judgment will not be accepted. Play should cease while the officials, captains, and supervisors confer on the details of the incident. The Intramural Supervisor or Assistant will be called over to rule on a disagreement based on the information at hand from the game officials and team captains.
Section 2: In- Game Documentation
If either team is not satisfied with the decision made by the Intramural Officials and Supervisor, they must state to the supervisor that they wish to protest the decision. The supervisor should immediately note the incident in detail and the reasons for which they based their decision. The team captain protesting should also write his account of what happened on the protest form. Play will resume immediately following the completion of the paperwork.
Section 3: Post-Game Documentation
To complete the protest, the following procedure shall be followed as outlined on the protest procedures checklist available at the game site.
- The protesting team must submit 2 typed written protests to the IM Sports Supervisor’s office by 12 Noon on the following business day. The protest shall include details surrounding the on-field decision, the rule being protested, names and telephone number of the team representative initiating the protest.
- A $10 protest deposit must be submitted with the protest.
Section 4- Decisions
If the decision is reversed, the $10 deposit will be returned to the person filing the protest, and the game will continue from the point of protest, with the new ruling taking effect.

All participants will be required to create an account on IMLeagues.com to sign up for MC Intramural sports. If you've already created an account, go to http://www.imleagues.com/Login.aspx.

- Go to http://www.imleagues.com/MCIntramurals/Registration. Use your Facebook login to create an account by clicking the link in the top, right-hand corner.
- Enter your information using your @stamourknives.com email address and submit.
- You will be sent an activation email, click the link in the email to login and activate your IMLeagues account.
- You should be automatically joined to your school – If not, you can search schools by clicking the “Schools” link
How to sign up for an intramural sport:
Log in to your IMLeagues.com account.
Click the Create/Join Team button at the top right of your User Homepage page OR click on the “Mississippi College” link to go to your school’s homepage on IMLeagues.
- The current sports will be displayed, click on the sport you wish to join.
- Choose the league you wish to play in (Men’s, Women’s, Co-Rec, etc.)
- Choose the division you’d like to play in (Monday 5 p.m., Tuesday 5 p.m., etc.)
You can join the sport one of three ways:
Create a team (For team captains)
- Captains can invite members to their team by clicking the “Invite Members” link on the team page. Any invited members must accept the invitation to be joined to your team.
- If they’ve already registered on IMLeagues: search for their name, and invite them
- If they haven’t yet registered on IMLeagues: scroll down to the “Invite by Email Address” box, and input their email address

Join as a Free Agent
You can list yourself as a free agent in as many divisions within a league as you’d like. You will be visible to all members of the site and can request to join teams, or post information about yourself so teams can request to add you to their team.
